Ecuador offers three different types of working environments: urban, rural, and extreme. Each option partners with an Alliance church to help fulfill a need or complete a project goal with the hope of establishing a platform to share the gospel. When a community witnesses a group sacrificing their time and energy to serve them, conversations are had, relationships are built, hearts are opened, and lives are transformed forever.
In our urban working environments, teams will help our soccer ministry run drills and put together food baskets at our recycling ministry, and women will have the opportunity to take care of young teens and their babies at our teen pregnancy home. In our rural working environments, teams will put together VBS programs for two of our sponsorship ministries on the coast of Ecuador—one for at-risk children and the other for children living in the garbage dump—and assist our volunteers and missionaries with lesson plans and handing out food. In our extreme working environments, teams will venture into the jungles of Ecuador to work at our missionary school for indigenous young people and help them train to become missionaries in their isolated communities. Interns that choose to serve in Ecuador with us will need to decide which environment they want to serve in and will assist our ministries in that location. Ecuador is also one of the destinations on our gap year program, Link Year.
